This was one of the trips we took while we were on Erasmus in Lisbon. We went in February and were quite lucky with the weather. The views are incredible, it gives a feeling of being in the Jurassic period.
Azores is a volcanic archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic that has belonged to Portugal since the 15th century, when Portuguese navigators discovered it and began to populate it due to its strategic position on maritime routes.
Over time, its economy grew around what the islands could offer: agriculture, livestock, and fishing, which remain important pillars today. Dairy production also stands out—they say the best butter and milk in Portugal come from there—as well as tea and pineapples, which are almost local symbols.
